Arguably the most experienced and travelled Māori storyteller in the world today. Joe has been travelling the world and sharing our stories for the last 34 years! Joe is a founding member of a Māori storytelling initiative called Te Reo Wainene o Tua.

Joe is a Director- Strategic Partnerships at the Department of Conservation. Hes been working for DOC for the past 17 years. Joe currently resides in his hometown of Whakatāne.

Scotty Morrison

Scotty Morrison is the presenter of current affairs programmes Te Karere and Marae. He holds a Master’s degree (Education), is working towards his PhD, and has been an Adjunct Professor and the Director of Maori Student and Community Engagement at Auckland’s Unitec Institute of Technology. Scotty is currently an Associate Professor at Massey University.

He is the author of the bestselling The Raupo Phrasebook of Modern Maori, Maori Made Easy and, with his wife Stacey, Maori at Home.

Scotty is a founding member of Te Reo Wainene o Tua (the sweet story of yesteryear), a te Reo Maori storytelling initiative that plays a part in revitalising purakau, reviving oral traditions, and normalising te Reo.
